Hi, I’m Amy!

Welcome to Excursion Everywhere- I am so glad you have found my site as I hope to inspire you to visit the places you’ve always dreamed of but also places you may not have heard about.

Travelling is a huge passion of mine. My love for travel began when I was at school and had my first ever language lessons. I was fortunate enough to go to a school where I spent the next seven years learning both Spanish and German. Very quickly, these two languages began to form the burning desire inside me to travel, my language lessons consisted of learning about Spanish speaking countries, German cities, Austrian towns, the customs and cultures of Spain and it opened my eyes to realising that there is so much more in the world to see.

I am from a small town on the outskirts of London, in the county of Kent. Geographically speaking, I have grown up in a great area with quick access to London- one of the greatest cities, with 3 large airports to take you to anywhere around the globe, including all of Europe within 2-3 hours as well as living only 35 minutes away from the Port of Dover- a crucial link between the UK and France, meaning that as a child we would often drive to France for the day or a long weekend.

I love Europe, and think it is one of the most fascinating places on Earth because despite it being a small continent, it is packed with so much diversity, history and culture. I look to take my reader’s across this wonderful continent and share with them some of my favourite places in Europe (they may not be where you think!).

Visiting the Roman Amphitheatre in Pula, Croatia- click here for my ultimate guide to Pula

I am yet to travel much outside of Europe, apart from a year-long stint as a child living in Atlanta in the USA, and a trip to Cambodia back in 2019. My trip to Cambodia was my favourite trip to date, and it probably was the catalyst that sparked a desire to share my travel experiences and see the rest of what the world has to offer. I hope that over the coming years I will be able to do this.

Aside from travel, I have a huge interest in history- so you may find some of this blog will be dedicated to the history of places travelled. I think a key part of travel is to not just say ‘Yep, I’ve been there!’ and tick it off your list and move onto the next destination, but to actually understand the destination you’ve gone to. I’ve learnt so much about places that I’ve been and it will stay with me for the rest of my life. I hope to share a lot of these stories with you!

Don’t put off your travel dreams until retirement- start now. Life is too short and the world is large, we never know what is around the corner.

Thanks for reading,

Amy x
